What's Dumb Luck

Post by Bob Aronoff »

To the winners backing Boston, who beat all the odds, Allan Goodman and his Camp pals, any team which gives up 11 runs and makes 8 Little League errors and yet wins those first 2 games of the 2004 World Series (WS), let me tell you guys that's Dumb Luck in all its glory!

Setting the record straight, I've never been a St Louis Cardinal fanm per se, but as a lifelong Brooklyn (Los Angeles) Dodgers' fan, I root for the National League representative in any Series and the All-Star games. Should the Red Sox and Cardinals want to reprise the 2004 Series, I'll bet my Camp Alton footlocker's baseball memorabilia on the Cardinals everytime. The NL is the better league, simply put.

I'm saddened that the Cardinals couldn't even beat a cursed team! Worst all, Gary Scharoff says he spotted me "doing time" as I was finishing up my penance swim. The Red Sox remained "cursed" in my book, pals, after what they did to me.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

I love this argument "The NL is a better league." Huh?

Since 1973 (the inception of the DH) here are a couple of numbers:

World Series Titles: AL 18, NL 13
Number of different clubs to win: AL 9, NL 8
