With all the hoopla about 50th anniversaries this year -- Brown v. Board of Education, Bannister's sub-4 minute mile, and even Elvis's (!) first recording -- it is no small wonder that the media has overlooked the 50th anniversary of a truly historical event. This month marks the 50th anniversary of Steve Hansburg's run with the 50.
I can see him now, legs churning and arms pumping; Bob Kurzman running interference; bodies flying everywhere. Truly a sight to behold!
Steve, tell us. Did you stop to think as you strode, victorious, across the line on that sunny day, that some day 50 years hence you would be looking this far back on that glorious day?
