Funny you should ask. I have some bunk photos. One shows Alan Ames whose name just came to me as I was writing. Another is a full low angle shot up the amphitheatre rocks from the deep water dock during one of the daily assemblies. Another is the traditional waterfront 'knee high in the shallow crib' staff line up, circa 1957. I'll have 'em digitalized and sent. Where do I send them? Some more names surfaced as I read Mark's generous response to my earlier remembrances: Phil Bortnick, Barry and Lou's dad, managed the canteen. Prize Camper shields hung in the Rec Hall. Were they lost in the condo construction of 1992? One year (1956 or 1957), while playing catch in the outer crib between afternoon 'swims,' I stepped on the jagged remnants of a broken bottle most likley washed in by hundreds of tides. Anyway, the accident was bad, I had to be ferried by canoe along the shallows toward the infirmary, lifted up the rocky terrain by hefty 'pall bearers' then cleaned, sutured, wrapped and bedded by the prettiest nurse I ever saw. Who was she? By bedded, I mean stretched out on the cot until I was able to limp back to the bunk. But, you guys knew that! Happily, this mishap happened to me instead of a camper. Jagged glass in the swimming area. That was a surprise.
