New Photos of the demolition of Camp Alton

Post by Gary Scharoff »

Thanks to Michael Kupersmith you can now see the results of the bulldozers and demolition crews as the buildings at camp came down.

I have not scanned all the photos yet but the ones that I have posted will just rip your heart out!!!!

Michael has sent be LOTS of pictures new and old including Phin Tobe's 90th Birthday. I will get them on the site as soon as possible but until then check out: <A HREF="http://www.campalton.com/the_final_chap ... r2.html</A>

I am sure these pictures will bring a tear to your eyes!

I would say enjoy but for some reason these are not photos you can really enjoy!

Thanks but no thanks. I won't be looking at the new photos. The end of Alton is a sad thought, but to visualize smoldering buildings is just a little too much.

I prefer to remember the better days; swim meets, color war, flag rush, trip days, lasers and lazy carefree summers.

Sometimes the smell of pine or ivory soap brings me back 25 years. I'll keep it that way and leave the reality to others.
