Kerry or Bush - what's it gonna be ?

Yo guys,

There is an appalling lack of political banter on this board. What's up with that ? Knowing the Alton mindset as I do, it's hard to imagine any shortage of strong opinions on the subject of the upcoming Presidential Erection, whoops I meant Election.
Here's a conversation starter: I recently saw the simple but elegant bumper sticker that said only the following, W '04. I had the almost uncontrollable urge to take a black marker and strategically place an "F" just before the 'W". Well, I guess that tells you where I stand.

so how about this why is the country so set on only REPUBLICRATS

Vote for a third party...why give into two parties that cater to their extreme sides when most of the country checks INDEPENDENT as thier political party?

Sorry Spike, can't help you there. One of these two jokers will be ruling the country next Jan. Decide the lesser of 2 evils if you will, or leave the choice to others, say I.

Voting for Nader in Florida last time, amongst about 20 other things, resulted in a decision of 'no decision' for that state.

As a none voting outsider, I understand that 10 out of the last 12 elections have been one by the taller guy. So Kerry at 6'4'' dwarfs Bush at 6' wins, it's cheap and could anyone tell the difference in policy.
Or maybe just leave it to the voters of Florida.
I find that older I get, the more cynical about politics I get.

Regardless of one's opinion, when civility is replaced by name calling, it belittles the name caller and the process, not the candidate(s).

America needs to start arguing the policies...these are what will determine our future.

Name calling obscures what one plans to do..or not do. If a candidate is not telling the truth, point out why..it is far more effective than calling people liars (or "jokers").

This is one of the most important elections in modern times.

If one really thought that the two candidates were nearly equally "jokers" and/or negative, and therefore it mattered not who won, why would Danny [a/k/a "Spike"] not be well advised to cast a protest vote?

In 1996 I was repelled by Clinton [for whom I had voted in 1992] and, for whatever reason my aging mind can no longer recall, lacked faith in Dole [so I voted for Nader].

Obviously, I feel differently than I did in 1996 [and can't understand why anyone wouldn't see the danger on the horizon - body language dexterity in a debate notwithstanding], but if one felt THAT negatively about both candidates, a protest vote would make sense.

I do not feel equally divided between the 2 major candidates, far from it. If I gave that impression, then I would like now to correct that.

Generally speaking, I do accept a role for 'protest' votes, but in close races (as seen in 2000) the protest vote may have unintended effects. Intended effects (in such cases) are all right with me.

Being so close to DC I do a lot of guvmint work. I call it the mobius loop. Recyclable drek over and over...mostly a huge waste of our tax dollars in the guise of doing good for the citizenry.

What I've found out after years of working with politicians and bureaucrats is that they are all just big hungry cats with nasty fangs feeding on the masses. One cat has spots, the other has stripes. Doesn't matter which one is in the big house, they're only going to do what's best for them and their spotted or striped brethen. Nothing is as it seems and EVERYTHING has an alterior motive. It's so machiavellian that it's downright comical.

The best part of it is that I get to recoup some of my wasted tax dollars...then pay them again...then get them back. Another mobius loop.
