Today

A few of you remember me from 1970 and you may have looked at my current employment as a teacher. Well, today I was teaching a math group, year 10 we call them, tenth grade to you maybe, but 14 year olds, not the brightest group either. One in the group made the observation that it was the 11th Sept...

Re: Or.....

Sounds good to me! When do we start? Maybe we take it down over the winter. As most of the buyers are probably tourists and only come for a couple of weeks a year, we could probably get away with it. When they come back next year, their houses are missing and Camp Alton is back in all its glory, we ...

Knock on effects

Ten years ago Alton closed and with it the Tennis Crew hung up their racquets. The knock on effect is that 10 years later for the first time since 1922 the USA have had no male tennis players in the last 16 at Wimbledon. Where is the next Agazzi, the next Mark Spitz, the next Carl Lewis. With Camps ...

Reality

Well guys The reality is that it all stopped at the last 8! I guess you could say that the USA did better than England because they lasted 5 hours longer! I would like to say that I wish our guys had as much heart and fight as your guys did. Your guys gave everything and came a lot closer than we di...

May the Force be with you

Hi Guys Firstly, USA v Poland, one point, a tie is good enough to go through, but for the guys who beat Portugal 3-2, 3-0 up at one point, I think they will go for the jugular and make sure. I wish you all the best and maybe UK v USA in the final !!!!!!! I will be watching at 7:30am, I think you guy...

Counsellors game 1970

Stoney, I remember playing a counsellors game with Dusty and others against Charlie (All American) Thomas and many of the enemy (De Witt or some other insignificant camp). I should remember because I ran my Butt off. But it was Alton who really won, because Alton scored first and that is how the sco...

Celtic Lose

Just a short message to confirm that 'Glasgow Celtic', a Scottish soccer team, lost last Saturday to their arch-rivals 'Glasgow Rangers'. It was a very tight game 2 each coming into the final few minutes and then the Rangers scored the winning goal in the last minute!!! Tony G PS Or are you guys tal...

Re: Camp's Final Year

Heh Guys I have seen the many messages that have been posted about the closing of Camp and even though I stayed at Alton just one year many years ago my experiences of the Camp and all the people there had a big effect on me. I do not know why the Camp was sold, but if someone came to me and made me...
